The CARES NG® software contains relevant databases to evaluate potential risk from dietary, drinking water and residential sources and from oral, dermal and inhalation routes of exposures.
The main database is the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) which provides extensive, statistically representative information on the diet of the U.S.A. population, drinking water included. CARES NG® contains the NHANES data collected in the period 2005-2010 related to those participants who recorded two days of food consumption. Together with NHANES, CARES NG® contains other three databases. The first one is the Food Commodity Intake Database (FCID) which provides the recipes of the foods recorded in the NHANES database. The second is the Pesticide Data Program (PDP) database which provides data about type and quantity of pesticides that can be found in the foods consumed by the U.S.A. population. The third is the Consolidated Human Activity Database (CHAD) which contains detailed data on human behaviour from 22 separate exposure and time-use studies carried out throughout the U.S.A.
These four databases are constantly reviewed and updated; the CARES NG software contains the most recent version of these databases.
A fifth database, called REJV, is installed into the CARES NG platform; this is a proprietary database hence the access will be granted only to the REJV members. This database is not used in any model developed in the CARES NG® platform but the user can refer to it as a source of real data on pesticidal product usage.
